Preserve the condition as it was.
A floor is cleaned. A damaged step is repaired. Camera footage is overwritten. Photographs, an incident report, and witness details can help document conditions that no longer exist by the time a claim is disputed.
Keep the exact location, date, and approximate time. Note who was told about the incident. Save any relevant footwear or damaged belongings, and record what you actually observed without guessing how long a hazard had been present.
Establishing responsibility
An injury on someone else’s property does not by itself establish liability. Ownership, control, maintenance duties, and notice of the condition can matter. A tenant, property owner, operator, or contractor may have different responsibilities.
The rules also differ by setting. An incident in a store, on public property, or at work may involve different claims and procedures. Explain where you were and why you were there when contacting the office.
Tell us about the injury.
Richardson Law Group handles personal injury matters from Covington. Contact the office with a short account of the incident, the treatment you have received, and any communication from the property owner or insurer.
Have photographs, report details, and witness names available if you have them. Missing records should not delay the first call.
